Staff Interviews: Robert Kopf
Robert Kopf is TCHO's Director of Sales.
1. What's the best part of your job?
Besides working with amazing chocolate, the best part of my job is being able to help educate people about the world of chocolate. I love being able to help people realize that chocolate grows on trees! Most people don't give it a second thought where chocolate comes from, or the journey it takes to get onto the shelf when they pick up a chocolate bar at their local store.
2. What's the hardest part of your job?
With TCHO getting more and more external, my job is becoming bigger and more complex — but the most challenging issue I've been facing lately is containing my excitement as we prepare to launch new products into new channels. For example, there is a lot of anticipation from the foodservice world for our new TCHOpro professional products. I'm very excited to be able to bring these products to market and provide excellent quality and value for our customers.
3. What is the difference working at TCHO over another company you have worked for?
The people. TCHO is made up of an amazing group of people with talent and skills that span all areas of work and personal life. Most of our team does not come from the world of chocolate, yet they bring such great perspective to what we're doing here. Our head engineer Matt Heckert, for example, is a performance artist. Or take our VP Operations Laurel Collier who is a demon soccer player — although she might also point out that she ran production for a Silicon Valley control company. I always tell people that we're a better company because of the added perspective that our team contributes to TCHO.
4. If a reader could step into your job for one day, what would surprise them the most?
The number of emails I receive everyday!! I must average over 150 emails every day. I'm known for replying to email at 1:00 AM.
