Matt is the musical machine man responsible for building TCHO’s entire factory. He is obsessed with making sound-noise-music with mechanical devices he builds. As a founding director of Survival Research Laboratories, he built robots and designed soundtracks for all sorts of performances and films. Matt then dreamed up and breathed life into (or, more accurately, built, wired, and plugged in) Mechanical Sound Orchestra, a group of sound producing machines. The Orchestra (and Matt) toured the United States and Europe. He has won numerous art grants and awards for his work and so graciously passed on his knowledge to other aspiring machine musicians at the San Francisco Art Institute.
Thankfully for the chocolate, his focus at TCHO has not been to make the machines hum, drum, sing, or tap-dance. Matt has applied his extraordinary engineering skills to ensuring every mechanical anything at TCHO runs smoothly. Although, a tap-dancing moulding line might be quite delightful…
